DELL, EXCOM EDUCATION ANNOUNCE WINNER OF AUSTRALIAN SMALL BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARD
Award recognizes innovation among world leading Australian small businesses
Sydney, August 13, 2008 - Dell, ICSB and EXCOM Education today announced, Task Retail Technology as the Australian winner of the 2008 Dell Small Business Excellence Award.
The Sydney-based small business, which specializes in Point of Sale (POS) software solutions that enhances the ordering process for retail outlets, was chosen for its innovative use of technology to better serve customers.
Task Retail Technology developed its award winning POS software solution over four years and was the brain-child of Daniel Houden with the support and assistance of his father Kym Houden.
The company employs 13 staff to service some of the largest brands in Australia including Muffin Break, Jamaica Blue, BB's, Brumby's Bread, Donut King and Michel's Patisserie totaling over 1300 stores. Other clients include Sydney Turf Club, hotels, clubs and a Sydney University.
"Task Retail was chosen for creating a revolutionary web-centric POS software solution that has the ability to deliver real-time terminal management, transaction data, as well as a range of key sales information anywhere in the world," said Kevin O'Kane, Dell Small and Medium Business General Manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Task Retail Technology will receive $25,000 worth of prizes, a meeting with Michael Dell and a chance to win a further $25,000 in the international version of the awards.

We have had such a great year having beaten some billion dollar companies by signing major contracts with some of Australia's biggest names. The prize will be a huge assistance as our business expands", said Kym Houden, Founder and Managing Director of Task Retail Technology.
The company expects to expand into the lucrative North American market and is in the process of securing contracts with major arena and stadium clients.
