All four of RFG’s brands - Donut King, Michel’s
Patisserie, Brumby’s Bakeries and BB’s cafe - will utilise the technology.
Retail Food Group Chief Executive Officer, Tony
Alford, believes the state-of-the-art system will bolster the operational
efficiency and marketing of its 1,050 stores and deliver real benefits to
customers and franchisees. “The integrated loyalty program capability means
RFG’s customers can enjoy and maximise value benefits from tailor-made promotions
and coupons that are delivered directly to the customer at the point of sale,”
he said.
“From a business perspective, dynamic marketing and
customised product offerings increase up-sell and cross promotional
opportunities at the point of sale, while innovations like text-message
ordering encourage customer patronage from those customers who do not normally
choose to wait and who demand speed of service,” Mr Alford added.
Point-of-sale promotions or coupons can be derived
from a customer’s VIP loyalty-card profile or the make-up of the individual
order. Additionally, it can prove to be a more generic incentive for a
particular store, or the entire network of outlets. This versatility is
intended to increase the opportunity for franchisees to up-sell and
cross-promote a broader range of products to every customer.
Kym Houden, managing director for Task Retail
Technology, is excited about the potential of the technology to assist
retailers. “Together with NCR, we are delighted to implement this far-reaching
solution for RFG, a company renowned for its franchising expertise and the
success of its highly recognised and well respected retail food franchise
systems,” he proclaimed. “Our scalable Xchangexec POS software suite will
enable RFG and its franchisees to reap the benefits of this solution as the
Donut King, BBs Café, Brumby’s and Michel’s Patisserie systems continue to
grow.”
Ross Checkley, Managing Director of NCR in South
Pacific, added that the integrated nature of the new system would provide great
benefits for retailers. “RFG’s mandate to roll out amongst its outlets a POS
solution based on NCR hardware further cements NCR’s position as a global
leader in retail POS solutions,” he said. “Our partnership with Task Retail
Technology delivers a complete, integrated hardware, software and services
solution that can meet the needs of Australasia’s best-known retailing brands.”
The changing face of POS systems is altering the
traditional consumer-business relationship and leading to the creation of more
efficient and effective solutions. The innovation of text message ordering and
payment, for example, allows for time-poor consumers to negate queues while
providing the benefits of increased consumer satisfaction to the retailer.
